Hi! can someone tell me how can i remotly( SSH) figure out what kind of raid controller is on my system?! and how many harddisks my system has and what size?! I am working on Linux( Centos4) if i do #df -h then i get 146 G so if my system has raid1, does it mean that the harddisk is 2 X 146 G ?! or i should actually see it as 146 / 2 ?! i am very confused, could someone please help me out with this?! many many thanks in advance!

With RAID1 you will only see 1 disk. As it is two disk mirrored together to form one. So what you are seeing is correct. Post the output of to see your RAID controller details.

If you have 2 HD's in an Raid1 it would look like 1 drive. IE HD1 mirrors to HD2 or the other way around. dmesg or lspci would show what raid card your running. 1 Post and Temporarily Suspended sweet.

Actually, /proc/mdstat only shows your details if you have *software* RAID, and shows nothing if you have a *hardware* controller. You will need to install whatever software tools came with the RAID controller in order to determine the array status.

You can install 3ware raid controller for this. It helps in monitoring the raid from the tw_cli command prompt. http://www.3ware.com/

What hardware did you order? lspci should show everything that's installed if you want to verify things.
