Promotional SMS texting

Posted by theSEOmaniac, 07-08-2011, 10:10 AM
Hey guys, I recently had an inquiry regarding sending out promotional text messages to clientele. This could be from a SQL database, or entered manually. I told them I would look into setting something up. This is not something I have done yet. So I have a few questions that maybe one of you may be able to point me in the right direction. I'm looking for any software or company recommendations. Thanks in advance for any help you may offer.

Looks pretty solid. My only drawback from using a site like this would be if I wish to have this be a service I am going to offer, I wouldn't want the companies name displayed at the top of the page. I was also referred to this bulk SMS sender built with python that utilizes clickatell. Something i'll have to look into furthur I want to offer this service within my business.

On all of the signup pages etc that you create it doesn't link back to the provider at all. The only thing that's branded is the end user panel that you use to manage contact lists and promos.

We use celltrust (www.celltrust.com) both internally for 2-factor Cisco SSL VPN auth and have set several clients up with it for various SMS services. They have been the best out of several providers we tried out. I'd stay far away from clickatell they were a nightmare and on another planet pricing wise.

This is not very hard to do. All you would need to do is get/make a script that does the following: 1) Reads a list of numbers one by one 2) Looks up number to check carrier code + area code and finds carrier match 3) Stores carrier in database with number 4) Matches that carrier with the proper sms address 5) Sends emails in batches from database to number@carrer.address sounds like less than 2 days of work for a Script Kiddie to do. You can figure out how to write those PHP codes using common sense and mix-matching online PHP tutorials. note: Your server must support PHP and Sendmail or PHP and SMTP to allow this to work. Most do! Last edited by halsteadtech; 07-30-2011 at 09:24 AM.

I believe you could also use Twilio to do this.
