Hello Daah, Welcome to WHT Reseller would be not a problem but you need to check if your hosting provider support streaming services on their shared server. Normally streaming services overload the resources hence most of the hosting providers do not support it on their shared servers. On a vps or dedicated server you get full root access and all its resources are available just for your web sites so yes, vps or a dedicated server is always better option if you want to run streaming services as here you get much better performance as compared to a shared server. Shared server resources like RAM, CPU etc. are shared among several other web sites present on it so normally shared hosting providers avoid to add such services which may add more load on server, its to maintain overall health of shared server, where as in case of vps/dedicated server as server resources allocated only for your web site so definitely you get better performance and more resources availability.

I think it'll be best to look for a reseller solution. The best would be looking for options at reseller offers and ask further details from the provider

Looking at your requirements, I would suggest you to go with Dedicated server as you have full access of it.

To keep you budget intact go with Fully managed VPS so that you dont have to keep monitoring the VPS 24/7 Some companies can even offer you end user support.

Hello. If you are new to hosting then best things is to start with a good reseller plan that comes with good support so you can provide the same for your customers. Just make sure the company support streaming and some other tools such as FFmpeg, PHP-FFmpeg Mplayer, flvtool & Lame etc for it.

First off welcome to WHT, Resellers give you everything out of the box so you don't have to worry about anything, except maybe a WHMCS billing system and your customers. VPS however give you more freedom and gives you control over everything the downside however you need to manage everything yourself unless you get a managed VPS. cPanel VPS License prices around the £9 mark $15 per calender month. You will need basic knowledge like a few SSH / YUM commands if you do get a VPS. You can find tuts either on your provider's knowledgebase or by googling. If you've got a managed VPS make sure it's either: - Semi Managed (You get a little support with your VPS) - Fully Managed (You get full support with your VPS you can ask them to install and do basic security) Resellers you sometimes get a Dedicated IP, you can either use this for nameservers or for a SSL. If you don't you use your providers nameservers. If you're not a techie person either use a Reseller first or a Fully managed VPS. Before I forget: - VPS (You get all the space / RAM / etc on the server) - Reseller (You share the server specs with other customers)

I started with a VPS, most start with a Reseller package. I would personally recommend www.clixinc.com. They are great!

Their Brand pinkvps.com looks good. VPS I'd recommend: - Cheap OpenVZ VPS: deluxewebs.co.uk - Premium Xen VPS: simplexwebs.com You can check the advertising sections.

If you have to ask questions on how to do it, I suggest not doing it.

You can start with Reseller Hosting. But there are many usage/content limitations on it. So ask your requirements to Reseller Hosting Provider before purchase. If you think VPS when I recommend a Managed VPS. Look at Hostdime

What kind of streaming services are you thinking about? Shoutcast? Video? Depending on your bandwidth requirements you may either need to go dedicated or look for a streaming reseller vendor.

Do many people demand those?

Not much but then again there's a good market for these as they doesn't come default with most of the hosts. For some one who's just starting out, its always good to go for a specific niche and master it.

1. I would recommend reseller to start with. You can always upgrade to a VPS with your control panel choice at a later time and migrate everyone over. 2. You usually have to pay for the cPanel license, but a lot of VPS companies will allow you to choose to have it installed and will install it for you. You will need to install WHMCS and provide a license number on your own, however. 3. What exactly do you mean by streaming? Like video streaming? If so, you could do that on either a VPS or a Dedi, depending on your bandwidth cap.
