www.mchost.com It is NOT down and hasn't been for 4+ months (except a 2 minutes reboot).

See the previous thread you've opened on the issue. www.mchost.com is NOT on the same network as the sydney. do a trace, a whois, etc. it hasn't been down for months.

If you don't believe it, go to http://forums.mchost.com and check our forums, there has been at least one post every 5 minutes for the past 24 hours.

I usually do not say much in these forums, but personally, if you have that big a problem with the service, you should seek another vendor and that is speaking as a previous customer, this kind of bashing serves absolutely no purpose in this forum. Just my opinion though

I think you need to cool down mate!! There are far too many people like you on these forums that post threads like this with out even thinking what it does to a companies reputation. If there have been posts on their forums at the same time you say the server was down then you have obviously been having problems with your ISP. Think before you post!

One great move MCHost made was to get Alertra for server monitoring. Uptime stats are available for all their reseller servers. Max123, please have a look at Sydney's Alertra stats post the findings here for all to see. It should show whether you or the Sydney server had a problem.

Sydney's up time is around the 96% mark for April so far.

So it would seem Max123's problem was not on the MCHost side....

wow, thats the worst thing i have heard so far about mchost i have a feeling he is over exagerating the whole situation

Posted by stefaans, 04-24-2003, 06:44 PM
The Alertra stats seem to confirm that it's an exageration. We have just moved away from MCHost. The recent downtime (at Burst) and some problems on the certain server was unpleasant. But the fast degrading technical support from MCHost was realy the last straw that broke the camels back...

What do you mean by that?

Posted by stefaans, 04-24-2003, 07:36 PM
Max123 is claiming his server has been down on 8 days this month. He also has a ticket open for 10 hours regarding downtime. At the same time Alertra indicates 96% uptime. The Alterta stats contradict MCHost's claim of the server not having been down for over 4 months. But I think it also shows that Max123 is either exagerating or may be experiencing some serious problems on his side as well.

But doesn't 96% uptime for this month mean it's had 24.03 hours downtime this month? Both sides seem to be hedging a bit here. Obviously not 8 days, or up the whole time either.

The BIG question is "Is 96% uptime acceptable?" McHost offers 99% uptime which is already low by industry standards. The last 3 months (Jan-Mar) before I left Mchost I never reached 99% and that was on a different server

Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE even 98% is unacceptable.
