FDC Servers: Absolutely Pitiful.

I purchased a FDC Servers reseller account on April 13th mainly to test them. Immediately I already had problems when it took 20 some hours to setup my account. So, I just wanted to test them out, oh well. Still have the account. And check these awesome uptime specs. Since: 4/13/2003 Outages: 537 Total Uptime: 82.417% Year Outages Uptime 2003 537 82.417% Year Month Outages Uptime Downtime 2003 April 537 82.417% 43 hrs, 45 mins You can look at them for yourself at; http://www.siteuptime.com/statistics.php?Id=561 Needless to say tonight I'm cancelling tonight.

What is the configuration of the server on which you have the reseller account ? I heard they are using their old servers to create reseller accounts and thats the reason why they are selling at such a low price.

Hello, Sorry about your misfortunes. That is quite an impressive uptime.... Best of luck next time!

Lately we have had users overusing the CPU, we have suspended all of those accounts and everything has been running without problems since.

I thought FDC used quad xeons with 8 gb ram?

Posted by adam, 04-26-2003, 11:29 AM
Dual xeons, and yes with 8GB of RAM

i've decided to stay and answer a few questions...

The servers and the network are pretty fast, however the amount of downtime is pretty crazy. Anyway, I haven't received any alerts of downtime the past two days so maybe I will end up sticking with them.

What are you going to do if this happens again? You'll lose all of your clients for sure. I mean I would leave without a doubt! Just wondering ...

Posted by IGobyTerry, 04-26-2003, 07:16 PM
I don't have any clients placed on the FDCServers account. Although I can see something happening like; FDC get's reliable, has decent uptime for awhile. I place clients on FDC Server. FDC goes crappy. Clients go bye-bye. Hopefully that does not happen though. But it's going to be a few months before I even think about putting paying clients on there.

Yup.

FDC has had lots of users leaving them, which may be one reason they are becomming a little better. Although at this very moment I am averaging a downoad of 9 KB, and have been averaging around 5KB - 20 KB the past hour of this download, the server has only been down once today that I am aware of. An inside source said that their reseller server has their MaxClients to high, and it is above a number that is stable for CPanel.

An inside source? I am the only one who runs this re seller server you are on and I did not say anything. Also you dont even have server access because your site was suspended for majorly overusing the CPU.

Adam, does fdc have an uptime guarantee?

Posted by PCplayground, 04-27-2003, 02:25 AM
Hmm... you suspended MY website. I worked on a reseller staff... hmm... how oh how could I get access to the server? Maybe through one of the other sites I hosted? lol.

Posted by EDKHosting, 04-27-2003, 05:03 AM
nope, I was with them for 2 months and the first month went fine, second was horrible, I had a total of 24 hours of downtime in the second month. Adam was a good help and anything that happens there he shouldn't be yelled at for. He puts up with alot from others but shouldn't be blamed for what happens. FDC just needs to redesign how they do things and how their network is setup and what devices need to be installed. They don't offer an uptime guarantee or money back. the only reason why people host with them is cause its cheap.
