Reseller charges

Hi
Say you get a reseller hosting for $40 and get 1 gb space and 20gb b/w. Is it then normal that the host you get the reseller package off then charges you for each domain you sign up - like $4 a month?

First of all $40/mo for a resellers account 1GB/20GB seems steep, check out www.clook.net or www.httpme.com or www.unitedhosting.co.uk instead.
Charging you $4 a month per domain does not seem right, it should be a yearly domain registration fee per domain. Web hosts usually charge $15/yr but why do that when you can order directly through www.godaddy.com or www.namecheap.com for $9/yr?

Actually got the figures wrong. Its 2gb disk space and 10GB bandwidth for 30$ a month. For each virtual server it prices another $5 a month. This isnt for domain registration, this is the charge for the virtual server

Well if its for a proper virtual private server then thats different to a reseller account and they might well justify making those per domain charges.
Normal hosting reseller plans will have a domain limit included in the 1 monthly fee though.

I've got nothing included. I can point domains to folders in my directory but can't give them ftp access just to this folder which makes that pretty useless to resell to someone. So I have to have the VPS. Just wanted to know if this is common or can I get better. After reading some posts on reseller accounts it seems I'm being duped.

Sounds like you'd be better off just getting a WHM account somewhere. Plenty of hosts will allow you to host unlimited domains under it usually.
