Basic Setup (Should be relatively easy to answer I think!)

Hi all, here's the scenario: I have a server with plesk as the control panel. I have two IP addresses and default domains assigned for each domain. Now, the issue im having is that when someone goes to mail.domain.com it redirects them to whatever is the default domain on the IP address. Now to access actual webmail, clients go to webmail.domain.com not mail.domain.com I was thinking a solution to the problem would be to just simply remove the mail.domain.com record from the DNS, however before I could do this something clicked in my brain that doing so would stop email from working? (Seeing as the mail servers are mail.domain.com) So, how would I stop mail.domain.com re-directing to different domains (the default domain)? I have a feeling that this is probably do to with my DNS records (something I blatently havent got a clue with seeing as im asking this question), so here is one of the domains: 70.32.100.110 / 24 PTR thebrowncowinn.com. ftp.thebrowncowinn.com. CNAME thebrowncowinn.com. mail.thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 ns.thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 thebrowncowinn.com. NS ns1.paulmillar.net. thebrowncowinn.com. NS ns2.paulmillar.net. thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 thebrowncowinn.com. MX (10) mail.thebrowncowinn.com. webmail.thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 www.thebrowncowinn.com. CNAME thebrowncowinn.com.

It won't stop the mail servers from working. You can setup a different A record such as usermail.domain.com as long as it points to the IP of the mail server. You need to update the MX record accordingly.

So: 70.32.100.110 / 24 PTR thebrowncowinn.com. ftp.thebrowncowinn.com. CNAME thebrowncowinn.com. pie.thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 ns.thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 thebrowncowinn.com. NS ns1.paulmillar.net. thebrowncowinn.com. NS ns2.paulmillar.net. thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 thebrowncowinn.com. MX (10) pie.thebrowncowinn.com. webmail.thebrowncowinn.com. A 70.32.100.110 www.thebrowncowinn.com. CNAME thebrowncowinn.com. would change it so that mail.thebrowncowinn.com wouldnt redirect to the default domain on the ip, but pie.thebrowncowinn.com would still have this issue? Plus, if i was to change my records to the above, would the mail server become pie.thebrowncowinn.com? The reason I ask this is because (with the way i'm understanding it at the moment) this wont really get rid of the problem - rather just obscure it. Is there no way so that if a user goes to mail.domain.com it will forward them to webmail.domain.com (without having to change mail servers / it forwarding to the default domain on the IP address) Thanks again.

Second post (just to put this back to the first page) I apologise, but better than making a new thread right?
