To good to be true?

Posted by ZigZag, 05-20-2004, 05:32 PM
I found fx-host.com they seem to be fairly new, I did a search on the forum to see what people had to say about them, but seems like theres really no talk about this one. Has anybody tried them? How are they? They have some unbelievable costs on their resller hosting, is it another 'you get what you pay for' web host company? Thanks Zig

They say the resell from the planet and have 3 servers The resellers seem a bit underpiced...

Hello ZigZag, Domain was created just Dec of 2003. So the company is young and they seem to be competing on price which is not always the best of signs. Regards,

Hi ZigZag It also looks like they might just be a reseller hosted by onestopserver dot com.

just be a reseller" ... I used that phrase once and I was frown upon. You are right though, it appears that they might be a hosting reseller. There's nothing wrong with that however. Businesses have to start somewhere. Doing a research for onestopserver would be good to find out how they manage their servers. Good luck ZigZag! Nice nick by the way!

I've had a spare backup account there for a few weeks, everything seems fine so far.

Sorry, I guess it's just my english! Didn't mean it in a negative way. I am in fact at the moment "just a reseller" myself.

I'm not a native english speaker myself so I know what you mean.

I signed up at fx-host.com 10 days ago. I have not tested it deeply yet, but so far so good. Cpu usage is quite high, so I guess they are overselling their servers. I just realised they are using a onestopserver.com server and it seems like thats not a company you can trust, according to some comments I've read... Man I have no luck at all when choosing hosts

Question: How do you make money when you offer unlimited domains and 60gb transfer for $11.95/mo? Answer: You put 70 accounts minmum on a server and pray that (a) the server doesn't melt and (b) that no-one uses 60gb transfer (or send lots of email or use lots of mysql or use much of anything really).

or - (c) You have a cheapo $99/mth server and live with your parents on rice crackers and water, from the $100/mth your server makes in profit.

Normally I live by the principles if an offer is too good to be true, it isnt. Save me lots of times.....

Depending on where you live, having 3 servers at $100 profit each is not that bad, as $300 per month is way above the average wage. Believe me, I know... On the other hand, depending on where you live, some prices are much lower. Things like renting an apartment are a lot cheaper where I live compared to USA for example. Is this the case here? I doubt it. Why? Whois is the answer.

Just to clear things up: -Yes we do have a reseller at onestopserver. - Yes we do 2 other seperate servers. - Note*: We are currently moving our main site to server3, so our site/email may be unreachable during a short period of time. -=================- 1. It would be really nice if you stop downgrading smaller hosts, and give them a chance to grow. 2. for $99 servers, you could get a quality server.

2. for $99 servers, you could get a quality server." See, this is what makes people degrade you...

If you have to ask yourself "Is this too good to be true?" then IMHO that should answer your own question right there.

Intel P4 2.8 Ghz » 1 GB DDR RAM » 120 GB IDE HD » 1000 GB/MONTH » 100 MBPS Port » 10 IP's » Fantastico! » Cpanel/WHM » Free setup- ONLY $99/month AngelNetworkz Special, isn't this a quality server?

No. I consider a quality server to have raid, hot swapable hard drives, backup system, redundant power supplies, etc. That would be quality. You described a basic computer.

Most of the time, If it seems to good to be true, it isn't true.

Hope thats true and my account at fx-host lasts for years, I've been unable to stay with the same host for more than 2 months... I'll come back to wht in some time to write a review about you, I hope it can be cood!

Hi, I just bought my account from fx-host. So far it has been good. They have replied to all my e-mails even though some of the questions i asked to them were basic, they still reply my first post in WHT
