Why IPowerWeb?

Posted by UberTec, 05-25-2004, 12:22 PM
I been searching the forums for a while and have noticed that IPowerWeb has been recommended a few times, but when I went to their site, I don't see what is so special about them. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Hello flush(), You probably missed tons of posts "de-recommending" this host. Wade through the search results again and you will have the answer. Regards

there may be many derecommending hosts but that doesnt explain the 250,000 clients they have.. http://www.webhosting.info/webhosts/.../ipowerweb.com ?! i will do another search though..

I think the reason they have that many clients is there affiliate program. Every site places a banner on for ipowerweb because they will get paid a lot of money if someone signs up.

Greetings: Something to think about. If a restaurant is packed, does that mean the food is good? If a resturant is always packed, does that mean the food is good? Thank you. P.S. I hear IPowerWeb is ok; so the above questions are more related to the 500,000 sites than it is the company.

dynamic, you more than doubled their customer base just by a click of button.

Greetings mediopia: Hmmmm... the keyboard is mighter than the .... . Typo on my part; sorry. The main point is that #'s do not always tell the entire story. Thank you.

Hello flush(), They may be good for small 2 - 10 static page web sites because they will always remain profitable to them. (overselling - Or in layman terms: Even though they sell GBs of space but only a fraction or even less of it gets used) But when it comes to power users (e-commerce sites with heavy traffic and backend databases) Ipowerweb fails the test. because these users (For just $7 / mo) do not remain profitable to them. Regards,

That 250000 figure is just a testimony of the power of affiliate programs and other aggresive advertising. Also, generally I agree with mediopia on the ipowerweb issue.

Truth is, there is nothing special about them, their offers or their services. Their success is a testament to their agressive expansion and marketing strategies. Exceptional Service will almost always come second to an average service and a big ad budget.
