They must be a new small host, Alexa has no data on them and their site doesn't have a Google PR yet. I smell a lawsuit coming from Tripod.com

Hi Cliff! You are absolutely right. We are quite new and we're proud of the services we have to offer. Our primary division provides outsourced support other hosting companies (through our Tripod Support division) but have opened up our own hosting division to support our own end customers (both shared and reseller). So we're experienced with customer support already and have a support staff of more than eighteen to help our customers. IncognitoNet, we thought there would be a lawsuit coming as well but we don't refer to ourselves as "Tripod" anywhere - just tripodhosting.com. :-) Roj

hi cliff, would you please show me the link where you have seen their advertisement, i would like to take a look. my professional opinion about tripohosting i think they are overselling like cr..zy. 200mb for $0.83 per month ($10 year) their reseller hosting 10gb for $19.95 per month. i dont think they can provide better services in long term (with that type of pricing) niyogi remember its my professional opinion, i am not saying anything personally. please dont mind. but i only say what i think really. newbiehost

Hi, Thanks for your replies... IncognitoNet makes a good point - one that was ringing in my mind when i saw the name tripod... the defence Niyogi made was a bit weak... i.e. if i started a site IBMcomputers com then i think we are in for problems... it would NOT be too good further down the line if all of a sudden name servers have to be changed for clients 100 plus domains! the 10gb/19.95 month is not unsimilar to other resellers offers... -incognitoNets for example For Newbiehost here is the link: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...=tripodhosting I am a bit fried with the reseller I am at at the moment and I need stability - servers that dont crash every week and have hours of downtime, ftp problems etc... one man support asleep when i am awake. Please everyone, correct me if I am wrong, but I am hoping that by paying that bit extra to go with an established firm that has a track record and is not a part time hobby / extra income venture then I can host my clients sites without anxiety. tripodhosting looks good - i like the idea of multi person live help situated in India (just +4 hrs) from me... rather than a one/two man outfit in the USA (-6 to -9hrs from me) - the costs are similar to other resellers - 60 day money back gurantee downs: - no customer contactable testimonials / forums - How experienced are the staff?... its mentioned on the site "20 years of combined experience in web hosting " and then on the same page later... "Our 15+ staff is ready to assist you..." That means on average staff have 1 year 3 months experience... -tripod name -new on the block any more for any more? all the best to everyone, Cliff Last edited by Cliff; 11-07-2004 at 08:17 AM.

Hello, Tripodhosting is now VARHosting.net. Expanded, that would be : Value Added Reseller Hosting. The name conflict has been taken care of. You are right that this may pose a serious threat later on and we surely don't want a lawsuit chasing us ;-) And also, from now on we'll be serving resellers only. Of course, the value we have added is support. We have been doing it as our primary job for so many hosting companies!! I'll try to explain the issues that has been brought up, as much I can, as a support guy in the company :-) Are we new? Yes, of course we are new in hosting terms. But what actually involves good hosting? We have been dealing with the dirt on behalf of many, till we decided to deal with our own. That way we get to keep the place cleaner as it's fully controlled by us! We have gathered valuable insights into the hosting industry, which we intend to use up to the best mark. Are we experienced? Yes, we are. Now, the level of experience required differs from a chatter to a server admin to a security guy! A chatter doesn't need to know the intricacies of the Operating System, but requires good communication skills so that he/she understands the customer's needs. So, in effect, the level of expertise in each discipline is well balanced. After all, we received our training live on the Web Hosting Industry :-) Still, there's a lot to learn and I think this'll be a greater learning carnival than before! As always, thanks for the notes that you all have provided. Regards
