Issues with MySQL with a dedicated with low RAM
Posted by albatroz, 09-14-2010, 01:29 PM A customer purchased a dedicated server (from another company) that seems to have a Celeron processor and only 512MB of RAM installed. As a result the MySQL seems to be stopping on peak hours and all the associated websites too. However I don´t see anything strange in the MySQL error logs, do you see anything related? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5980366/mysql.err
Posted by Sheps, 09-14-2010, 04:05 PM Hello albatroz, This is more of a technical issue so I am going to move it for you. However here are some things I would like to ask from you: Clean the logfile or mark the times where you experienced a problem in the logfile so we don't have to search through pages of log. At approximately the same time as the MySQL went down, can you get information from /var/log/messages(or wherever the system messages are sent on your system) as there appears to be insufficient information contained within the logfile itself.
Posted by InstaCarma_Support, 09-15-2010, 01:08 AM If you are sure, that the service is going down due to lack of enough free memory, then you can try tweaking the application and concerned service to an extent. Or else, you will have to increase the RAM of your server.
