Suspicious process running under user mysql

Posted by Johnburk, 09-08-2010, 07:55 AM
I keep on getting the following error, is this somthing worry about?

Most likely, MySQL was upgraded but an instance of the old version is still running. If you restart the MySQL server, you shouldn't get this e-mail anymore.

Thank you CoderJosh

Just restart MySql and the message will go away.

i got the same thing when i installed prelink. restarting the service didn't work. but no harm really.

I solved this issue restarting the service. There is no big deal on it.

It can resurface again . Restarting is not a solution Mysqladmin proc stat Use this command and see what is eating up mysql.

Do you mean mysqladmin processlist status?

Posted by Hillockhosting, 09-09-2010, 09:49 AM
mysqladmin proc stat This is the command. The M was caps in my last post. I am sorry for that.

That gives the same result as mysqladmin processlist status. Didn't know I could do it shorter. Thank you for teaching me. I get The are a lot of delayed users and one strange user called "leechprotect" with a time of 28.000

LeechProtect is a cPanel feature to protect account information, see http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/vie...s/LeechProtect for details.

I restarted a few times in the last 2 days and it did not solve the problem.

This is seen in cases where the original file is replaced by a new one when the application is updated. Normally killing all the processes and restarting the service should fix the issue.

Double check on the total no of mysql processes, ps aux | grep mysql

Posted by Johnburk, 09-15-2010, 04:07 AM
I just typed grep mysql without knowing what it does (stupid of me!) and it has been loading for a long time. What does it do?
