ssl error need help

Posted by akasharya, 09-15-2010, 03:08 AM
I installed a ssl certificate on a domain which is on cpanel but when I am accessing the url using https, getting this error Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to "domain name". SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) I do not have root access to the system, so is there anyway to fix it from cpanel?

I think your Key installation was not successful. You can re-install the key from cpanel itself, AFAIK

Hi, Inorder to install a private SSL/dedicated SSL, you need to have a dedicated IP at first. Then you should contact your host to get it installed. By reviewing the error, I think the certificate that got installed for your site is invalid. So, do the following. 1. Confirm with your host that you have got a dedicated IP address. 2. Give them the certificate and the key so that they could do a fresh install.

This error means the certificate is not at all installed on the domain. You need to assign a dedicated IP to your domain before installing the certificate which can only be done by your hosting provider. And it will be easy for the hosting provider to install the certificate from WHM.

This error usually occurs due to wrong implementations of SSL on the server. Also make sure that more than one SSL is not sharing the same IP. All SSL should be assign to have a dedicated IP.
