Looking for the most reliable Dedicated Hosting company in the U.S.

Posted by Steeped!, 07-12-2016, 09:36 AM
I am looking for dedicated hosting ($100-$300 per month) with the datacenter located somewhere in the U.S. I've been doing a bunch of research here on these forums, and it seems like people really recommend ServInt, Liquidweb and WiredTree. They all charge about the same, and all three companies I spoke to seem friendly. This is a really hard decision for me to make, so I'm hoping you can help me out with your experiences. In your experience, what is the most reliable dedicated web hosting company?

Posted by MaxConsulting, 07-12-2016, 09:39 AM
It would be unfair to classify as "most reliable", as in fact, any of them can have issues and each customer will have its "own experience" with any of them. But the referenced ones are: Softlayer Limestone ReliableSite Psychz Quadranet OVH ServInt LiquidWeb WiredTree And the list keeps growing... It also depends in your budget, and what do you mean in terms of "Reliability", are you speaking about Hardware ? Network ? Added Services ? Or the whole package ?

Liquidweb, KnownHost, SoftLayer My experience has been excellent with all of them. ServInt not so much, a few years back, and lately I only read bad stuff about them. Never tried WiredTree myself, but I've read good things about them.

Hey Maxzeus, For sure, it's really hard to classify which provider is "most reliable", which is why I'm having the issue of not knowing who to go with!!! I am really just looking for anyone who can tell me who they recommend based on their own experiences. In terms of "reliability", I am speaking about Support, Network and Hardware.

As much as I love OVH's pricing and hardware, they most definitely do not belong in the same category with Softlayer and LiquidWeb.

Posted by MaxConsulting, 07-12-2016, 09:43 AM
Did you read the part I said it all depends in the budget ?

Posted by MaxConsulting, 07-12-2016, 09:44 AM
In all honestity, raise your budget the way you can, and select from the referenced ones, if you don't have a nice result or don't like it, just switch over... This is like a girlfriend, really...

Yes, and still they do not belong in the same group when someone asks for "most reliable" providers, not even in the same sentence. OVH is horrible when it comes to support, which is one thing OP asked for.

Try to think out of the box in my comment, if it depends in "budget" how in Earth would they pertain to the same group ? Of course it doesn't, it depends in "budget", if you can pay more, you can scale up on the quality of the service, if not, then your only alternative is OVH, or any other "cheap of matic" provider.

My budget is somewhere between $100-$300 per month. I don't have the time or energy to move around different hosting companies until I find one I like, so I don't mind paying $300 for a server that has amazing uptime, with first class support.

Posted by MaxConsulting, 07-12-2016, 09:57 AM
Ok, then you can choose between Softlayer and Liquidweb.

Posted by Andei, 07-12-2016, 10:00 AM
Listen, OP asked for the "most reliable", which is of course an exaggeration, but still, it should indicate that the most important thing for him is reliability. He also posted a budget $100-$300, and no actual server specs. Then you list a bunch of providers that are not even close one to another in terms of reliability, and claim it depends on the "budget"... well, I'm assuming all providers you've listed have servers within the OP's price range, so the delimiting factor will have to be reliability. Not to mention that OP asks for US datacenter, and last time I checked OVH didn't have one.

Sure, they are in BHS, but still, close enough to serve any US customer the same way...

@Steeped! Why don't you say more about your apps, services you want to deliver from this dedicated server. This will make easier to others to recommend a service provider. There are a lot of details like - network, provider's service model, technology, etc., that are important.

This is an e-commerce site that we're launching in August. We are doing mass marketing when we launch, so we expect to get a lot of traffic. We don't need any super impressive specs. Ram can be 4gb. We just want a small SSD drive.

Having used Knownhost for a few personal projects a few years ago I can highly recommend their services for the US market.

Well, if you are about to manage the server yourself, then you need to make sure that the web host has a good, reliable network and the support respond promptly to your messages. That's most important, I guess. Anything else, including the latency. which is very important, are not critical.

I can personally vouch for Knownhost, Used them couple of years back . Back then the support was great and never experienced any issues. Also Liquidweb and WiredTree have a lot of good review on this forum so you can choose them as well. Good Luck

reliablesite!? why because they have "reliable" word in their domain name? Thats the worst hosting company ever There are always a couple of threads from their angry customers on first page

Posted by MaxConsulting, 07-12-2016, 11:37 AM
Well, when you have a lot of complaints, it also means there are a lot of customers... So yes, every customer has its own experience with all these companies, but OP already stated he wants a very reliable company to work with, so out of the whole list, you can select only Softlayer or Liquidweb...

Hi Maxzeus, Thanks for the mention!

For every complaint, I can get you 10 positive reviews. We have been around for a decade, we host thousands of clients and at our size can't please everyone. Companies that are bad do not grow and do not stay in business. It's unfortunate, but true. I would run through a post history of this guy, he has dedicated his time in trolling us. Most of what he says is grossly exaggerated and we've called him out on several blatant lies he has attempted to spread.

Thank you for the mention. Your statement about each customer's experience is dead on!

Where is a majority of your traffic going to be from? Maybe a DC close to that location would be best for you.

Posted by SenseiSteve, 07-12-2016, 02:03 PM
You might add WebNX and HandyNetworks to that list.

Softlayer and OVH are best dedicated server providers but they are costly but reliable host. After seeing your pocket you will get high performance dedicated server.

Thank you for your recommendations! Glad to hear are happy with our services

Posted by CyberKeys, 07-12-2016, 04:27 PM
And for every REAL positive review I can show you 10 legit complaints. The reviews should come from real customers not from some unknown hosting resellers that they are shilling for you in order to get 0.5% higher commissions. I am telling my experience with your terrible company so new people will not get ripped off, and I have proved all my claims... The only thing you do is denying every claims against your company and call them blatant lies
