Cirtex

Hey everybody, I recently bought into a reseller plan with cirtex hosting and for the most part im pretty happy with the support and service n such. However I have one reservation that I'm not sure ive encountered thus far until now. I have a 1200+ memberlist and from time to time its necessary to send out newsletters. With cirtex i send from my phpbb board and nothing happens, or at least not for a day or two. They tell me its because they are controlling what could possibly me spam. Now i can see the restrictions because of need to control spam or whatever else, but how am I supposed to communicate with my members, which btw supplement my income, if when I try to send them all an email and they don't get it, or get it a day or two late? I talked with someone at support about this before coming here. I just want to know what you other experienced folks think. So heres my question. Are there any reseller plans out there that dont have these specific restrictions on them that can fit my needs? Sure there are but im new here and i'm sure yall can give me a better idea Last edited by DrewAPicture; 09-13-2005 at 01:08 AM.

As a provider I can say we place many restrictions on what a user can do on our shared servers. The reason we restrict the number of mails a client can send is because a few spam complaints can cause an entire server of mail users to get blacklisted , and that means angry clients. My suggestion is to look for a dedicated solution where you wont affect as many other clients

Agreed, in the age of blacklisting, you'll need a dedicated with most reputable hosting companies, to be able to send unlimited e-mails at a particular time rate

i had thought about setting up a dummy board on my old hosting then sending the newsletters from there because there were never any restrictions on emails there. Ty for the suggestions, but I dont have the necessary funds for a dedicated server

That would work but hosts that are not placing any email restrictions are not being smart in that these restrictions can be used to help keep everyone on server happy and running fast. If you want to send out 1000 emails at once, I'd recommend finding some way to export the mailing list out of the forum and do so in small batches.

In belated response to this inquiry I originally made, I found a hack for my phpBB which lets me send out Mass Email in batches of 100 or whatever increment I choose. Still with Cirtex tho

Is it really needed a dedicated or just a private IP or dedicated IP would be enough not to blacklist an entire server?

Just a heads up about blacklisting... I am still with Cirtex as well, and have recieved notices that their server that I reside on is already on Verizon's blacklist. I sent a notice to cirtex-hosting and to verizon, but the ticket was closed automatically, so I have no idea if it has been resolved yet.
