Email problems after migrating

Posted by neo-, 01-25-2012, 01:07 AM
Hi, I moved a cpanel account using cpanel to cpanel migration. But after a month of being live I kept receiving "Excessive resource usage for spamd child" and "Email queue size alert". I went to check the mail log and these are what I mostly see... 2012-01-25 12:50:23 cwd=/var/spool/exim 3 args: /usr/sbin/exim -Mc 1RpuoK-0005fy-Ps 2012-01-25 12:50:23 1RpuoK-0005fy-Ps == /home/olddirectory/mail/.Junk/ R=central_filter T=address_directory defer (13): Permission denied: cannot create /home/olddirectory/mail/.Junk/ 2012-01-25 12:50:23 1RpuoK-0005fy-Ps ** /home/olddirectory/mail/.Junk/ : retry timeout exceeded 2012-01-25 11:15:46 H=oldhosting.domain.com [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Warning: Sender rate 1.9 / 1h 2012-01-25 11:15:47 1RptKs-0008T4-3K <= abc@domain.com H=oldhosting.domain.com [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] P=esmtps X=TLSv1:AES256-SHA:256 S=328804 id=F50C1E592DBA44948428722599265D6A@TBM.local T="Email Subject" for emails@samedomain.com Could these be the reason of Excessive Resource usage and Email Queue? Also what must I do to fix those directories/domains that still reference to "olddirectory" and "oldhosting.domain.com"? Thanks for any help!

Ok I think I found the solution for fixing the old directory for problem, I needed to correct the destination folder in Account Level Filtering (Cpanel) from olddirectory to the working one. dest: /home/newworking/mail/.Junk This can also be done by changing filter.yaml under .cpanel. Now my last issue are the still excessive resource and the reference to the old hosting server... 2012-01-25 11:15:46 H=oldhosting.domain.com [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Warning: Sender rate 1.9 / 1h 2012-01-25 11:15:47 1RptKs-0008T4-3K <= abc@domain.com H=oldhosting.domain.com [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] P=esmtps X=TLSv1:AES256-SHA:256 S=328804 id=F50C1E592DBA44948428722599265D6A@TBM.local T="Email Subject" for emails@samedomain.com @amaziah thanks for your response, will check that too.

DewlanceHosting, Thanks for your response, I have a cloud server setup with just 3 clients one has 150 email users and others are 3 or 5. How do I investigate this further so that I know what to relay on my client? THanks!

I never use Cloud server but If you're using a Exim Mail server then you can check email send logs.. /var/log/exim_mainlog /var/log/maillog For Domain and Single Email Address(SSH Command) cPanel/WHM Login to WHM >> Email >> View Mail Statistics (You can check all errors, how many mail send/receive/rejected,etc..)
