Hello Mr. one ask, would this be a good setup for a VPS Serving system with 2x 500gb hard disks (up to) 8gb memory.... (Looking to use OpenVZ to create about 14-15 512mb VZ VPS's)? Host machine to do nothing other than host the VPS's. Host O/S to be Centos 5.7 x64, guest O/S's to be the usual OpenVZ supported linuxes. i would like to do a RADI1 with the centos software, then install openvz, work okay do the raid1 with the centos software? other thing how will work this? by ie, if one disk is droped, then the system will work of automatic way with the other disk? or i need start manually?, by other side, when the system start, when i replace the disk, the raid 1 is rebuilded of automatic way? or i need do manually? i think to use centos 5.7. thank you, regards.

8 x 1024 = 8192MB/512MB = 16 (1GB RAM Reserved for system) - RAID 10 is recommended for creating a 12 - 14 guest VPS - CentOS 5.7 is good for you

i will use raid 1, for the moment by my prices, i'll take your advice for the future, but do you think that can be affected so much the perfomance if i use raid 1? other thing, when do you said, centos 5.7 is good for me, do you mean to about the raid software included on centos? other thing, what do you recommend to use, raid with software(included on centos) or hardware( included on the mainboard) thank you, regards. I face only slow speed problem with Raid 0, 1 or 5. I never use Hardware based RAID so I will recommended you to read this post(Software RAID vs Hard Ware Raid) - If you've a own server then install Software based RAID, then create 14 - 15 VPS and test for 6 to 24 hours(eg: start some programs on all VPSs, check hard disk speed, read/write speed..etc..)

thank you DewlanceHosting Other doubt that i have is: if one disk on the raid 1 is droped, the server work normally? or i need to start the other disk manually? by other side when i replace the droped disk, the raid 1 is rebuilded of automatic way? or i need do manually?
