Hi All can you help me with this: I have 1 x domain (mydomain.com) on one server but need to: use sub-domains over 4 x servers like server 1 = mydomain.com ns2.mydomain.com ns3.mydomain.com server 2 = sub1.mydomain.com ns?.mydomain.com ns?.mydomain.com server 3 = sub2.mydomain.com ns?.mydomain.com ns?.mydomain.com server 4 = sub3.mydomain.com ns?.mydomain.com ns?.mydomain.com can this be done and if so how? I have cPanle and whm and will be ordering the other server over the next 2/3 days simon Last edited by smarty-boots; 10-19-2006 at 11:14 AM.

you can create the account as subdomains on the other servers and then just add an entry to your DNS zone poiting those subdomains to the new IPs.

One caveat to this: If you expect mail to be delivered to these subdomains on the remote servers, you may need to add them to /et/remotedomains and remove any entries from /etc/localdomains if they exist on the server holding the zone for "domain.com". From your description, it sounds like you're creating hostnames using this domain? If so, add not only the subdomain to the local DNS, but also the nameserver IPs. I'd also suggest (though maybe unnecessary) duplicating these on each of the servers being used.

If the hosting companies you use are familiar with these types of things they will also be able to help you out in setting these things up on your account. But Bear's advice will work as well.

Hi Iam a reseller and have one (reseller) plain (with small free space for me to host my site on) on one server but as it has been slow over the last week, thats why I was going to go with 4 x (reseller) plain over 4 x servers each server has small space for me to host my sites on so 1, will be my web site 2, will be my support site (which is linked to my web sit as inframe) 3, will be my Domainsales site (which is linked to my web sit as inframe) 4, will be my cms site (which is linked to my web sit as inframe) and all the space that i pay for on these servers I resell?

It's not really a big deal (Unless your host don't manage the server) You can open a support ticket to request custom dns entry for your domain.
