| For a little while now I have been hunting around for a Reseller Package. I'm UK based.
My requirements are sort of straight forward (not in any certain order):
1) Reliable, with good availablity and response speed for websites & FTP.
2) Reasonable response to customer service questions (phone not essential, ticket system is a must).
3) Secure.
4) Solid POP email with webmail (ability to change A & MX settings).
5) PHP5 & MySQL5 facility.
6) Ability to host Moodle/Joolma CMS (I have a Moodle requirement now).
7) Reasonably priced domain (.co.uk & .com) purchases.
8) My customers to have own control panel with straight forward management options (i.e easy to add an autoresponder to email addresses when going on holiday).
9) Maybe the ability to kickoff with a starter package and have the ability to upgrade should i need to in the future.
10) I'm based in the UK, should my Reseller Package be UK based?
Now price is an issue. It always is! It's also true that you get what you pay for. I don't want to pay more than I have to. At the end of the day I run a business and managing prices is important. However, I wouldn't want service & performance to be compromised. I suppose what I am saying is good value is what I am looking for. I would rather pay a little more to have a better quality service.
I have read various reviews and I think it is fair to say that you hear more bad news than good. If everything is working well, people are happy and tend not to make a special effort to say so. However, when people are having problems that's when they vent there frustration and start highlighting issues.
Also, different people have different perspective on life, and then some people are just plain unlucky.
So I am interested in hearing those good news stories from seasoned resellers that feel their hosting provider/package is the business.
Any takers?

How much space and bandwidth do you need? and specifically, what's your budget?

| I'm not so worried about space & bandwidth. I'm assuming that I will be able to purchase a package to suit my immediate needs. That package should have upgrade options that allow me to increase capacity as my customers demands increase. This assumes that I will be able to review usage (storage & bandwidth used).
What I am really after is finding a short list of tried and trusted providers that tick the right boxes and then compare the storage, bandwidth & pricing.
At this stage I do not want to be governed by price specifically, but I am looking at quality of service for a fair price. Don't get me wrong I'm not after a dedicate server, I am looking for a Reseller package.
I have read lots of comments about "you get what you pay for" and "unlimited is not realistic". Rather than specifically state my budget I would be interested in seeing what the general views are and the price you should expect to pay for a good solid level of service.
I have read so many moans and groans about high profile providers. I am very interested in feedback from people who have dealt with companies over last 12/24 month period.
Who are the top 5 or 10 (UK?) providers that deliver quality with value reseller packages.

| Welcome to WHT! Many will post suggestions on here for you and then I would suggest you take some of those names and type them in the search field on the top left to get a good firm understanding if they are doing things right or shady. But remember, this is only a hand full of people reviewing companies that possibly have thousand (+) clients. I say that because often times the negative reviews are brought by disgruntle customers trying to deface the company on WHT. Just read through and you should be able to come up with a great company.

| Guess this is because of people writing reviews when things go bad, resulting in bad reviews, in general reviews are from people who are either extremely happy and want to show it, or from people who have a bad experience.
About your other question: if your hosting should be done in the UK, guess that mostly depends on where you expect the most customers coming from. A European or USA located server could serve you just as well for most websites.
Be aware for low priced hosts giving you much for less, if you want to resell a product be sure the company behind it is solid, you have a responsibility towards your customers as well.
I wish you luck with searching for a company which suits your needs.

| There's not a fixed ranking about it, as example, you'll find many people happy with bluehost, but when I tried I couldn't believe how slow they were, same happened with Dreamhost, where I saw loads of over 15 in a dual proc server most of the time, however, they are still good for many many people.
I suggest you to search for the host that fit your needs, in all the features that you want and in your budget, make a shortlist with them, and start to research using this forum.

No, your host not necessarily needs to be UK based, also, many UK based hosts have their servers in the US.

| I don't have a reseller program but I am happy with my hosting company. Support was a huge issue for me as I not a patient person. Compared to the last company I hosted at the support times are excellent. My old host was a 24 hour response time on issues. With my current one, I get responses under a hour via. email.
My buddy has a reseller plan with them too. I don't know the details of it but I know he is happy there too. Its something to look at. I'd be happy to give you the name if your interested.

| I've been with ResellerZoom for 18 months and have never had an issue, however; I've never used their UK packages. My server is in the NAC datacentre (New Jersey). New accounts are setup at their GNAX location (Atlanta, Georgia). On their website they state that the location they use in the UK is at BlueSquare Maidenhead, UK.

| You dont have to, however your likely to get orders from clients who require UK datacentres, for SEO reasons it maybe better for you.
Also, the network speed would be faster for you if in the UK and servers also in the UK.
