hostnine's new reseller center, has anyone tried it since it came out?

I got to try it out at hostingcon and was pretty damn impressed but they were still finishing stuff, have any of their current resellers on the new system yet? thoughts? Is it working well? Cool concept of spreading clients out over a ton of servers, in theory should reduce server load and allow a more stable environment. I'm hoping to get a login soon. btw if you are not sure what i'm talking about they have a movie of the new control panel at http://www.hostnine.com/reseller-cen...r/rc-tour.html basically takes the place of WHM.

Doesn't it seem a little like the features already available in the hosting automation software's like ModernBill or ClientExec? I have not had the opportunity to test it but reading the features sounded just like the features already available to someone with multiple reseller accounts using MB or CE.

You mean where MB or CE can create accounts in an order on a number of servers? If so ya a step bigger but also advantage of having a pool of servers by the reseller so should be more stable. If you are a reseller doing that and spreading them out you still have only 4 reseller accounts so all your clients are on 4 servers. With this method it looks like they will be on a lot more servers. Most of the benefit I see is in better uptime and less downtime for clients. Plus choosing a physical location.

Doesn't H-Sphere do something similar already?

Yes - I have been wondering what all the fuss is about this "new" functionality. H-Sphere providers (and plesk and helm, etc) have been doing this for years - and not only have resellers been able to allocate across multiple servers, but, they have also been able to allocate across multiple platforms (linux, BSD, Windows, Coldfusion, Exchange, pgsql, mysql, mssql, etc, etc, etc). We have resellers with accounts spread over 40+ servers... I am a little amused that all this attention is being given to a system that isnt even close to what already exists and has existed for years... sigh - carry on

Can you point me to where plesk can do that? i've been using plesk a long time but never seen the ability to do that and would like to string my servers together from one location.

Spread accounts across multiple servers and multiple platforms (which is what I said)? look again...its inherent in plesk hsphere and helm hsphere can even spread them across data centers - right out of the box.... Last edited by cartika-andrew; 08-09-2007 at 05:36 AM.

that is awesome, can you point me to the plesk homepage where plesk can do that?

plesk is a clustered solution. As you add new servers, accounts are allocated across them. Looks pretty clear on this page http://www.swsoft.com/en/products/plesk/ also, plesk supports windows + linux You should also look at hsphere where you can not only allocate accounts across servers, but, across data centers if you wish

You need t look at Plesk Expand I believe it is called. I have experience only with single server plesk installs, so I have no input on expand, but that is the option.

Gotta love hype

Yeah, even I signed up their reseller because of the "Changing hosting forever" line.

I would like to take a look at this system. I have trouble believing that it can compete with the other mentioned solutions. They have been doing this for several years and have most if not all of the bugs worked out. In my opinion, and I think that most will probably agree, Its almost pointless having a reseller account on a system that doesnt offer this. Without being able to split your accounts over several servers, you are limited to the resources on one server. That forces you into many types of oddness to grow as a reseller. With systems like Hsphere or the scaleable sw-soft offerings, a reseller has no real reason to ever stop reselling. The cluster owner can simply keep adding servers and the resellers have no need to ever do any work on the sysadmin side of things.
