Remote MySQL

Hi, Hosting script in Europian Server(Hetzner), and MySQL in USA (Softlayer) caused incredibly much latency in the speed. As much as 2-3 seconds latency. The script is vBulletin.
I dont know if this is normal or not ?
I understand that data travels longer distance, and latency is inevitable. But when i use php proxy script in EU server to surf the sites in hosted in the USA server, the latency is not that much.
Can you advice ?
Regards.

NEVER EVER host a remote MySQL on a server not on the same local subnet. It's just not ideal along with many other reasons.

Number one main reason: It's slow.

You have that latency for every single SQL query.

Ok. I got the idea.
But what is interesting for me, if we use main server as a proxy to access the remote server, the latecy is not considerable.
But when it comes to MySQL, the latency is much.

Because a HTTP proxy would typically just be one roundtrip. If you have 200ms roundtrip latency and the average page generation involves ten queries, that's two seconds of network delay alone.
