HostGator Vs HostNine for new Starters?

Posted by Ala7lam, 02-29-2008, 01:59 PM
Hello everyone, I am a WebDesigner and I am new to the Reselleing idea . I used to pay for a seprate hosting plan for every customer, but now i decided to be a reseller in order to make it easier for me to manage everything. I would like to know your opinion regarding my choice of the Hosting company. I'v read a lot of topics in the forum and most of them are recommending HostGator or HostNine Reseller plans, and both of them is offering some very nice features. HostGator is cheaper and gives more space but i like the idea to be able to choose which server I want my customer's website to be on which is provided easily with HostNine. What I simply want is something reliable and not having to worry of my customers websites going down every now and then, and a good support. Some people were talking about HostLayer Reseller plans, but i am not sure of the company. Please let me know your opinions , or if you tried both and still want to recommend something else. Thank you. Last edited by Ala7lam; 02-29-2008 at 02:13 PM.

Just wondering, Is there any Good-Quality Hosting company that provides support for the Reseller and his clients in the same package? Thanks

That's called "end user support" and there is a number of companies that provide it. Go through the results of this search: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search...=&imagestamp=& to find the names of such providers, that people recommend. As for the "good quality" bit, you'll have to decide it on your own, based on feedback from customers, which you can (and should) dig up via the search feature, for each provider you're considering. Good luck!

The feature Hostnine offer is not so important unless you have customers worldwide and want to host websites in different countries. Basically you should search for an established hosting provider (maybe 1-2 years in business). They will know how to provide reliable hosting service, so your websites will not go down every now and then

Fair warning: I would recommend reading some of the more recent postings about RZ on WHT first. It seems that they've been experiencing some serious uptime issues over the past week.

RZ has plenty of servers. Some server or the other will keep having issues. But the main problem at RZ is a speed/quality of support. It is no longer as good as it used to be. But they still may be better than many in the reselling market. However, I will stay away from Hostgator as well as hostnine. Hostgator because they don't allow overselling. Hostnine because there are plenty of bad reviews about them.

I would recommend Hostnine. We host with them and they have been helpful in terms of support. The ability to move clients sites from a server to another is also very nice.

Thanks alot everyone for your input. Regarding the ability for choosing which servers to host in, most of my customers are from Asia to be more specific, so beeing able to host my customers websites in Asia is nice. I will check more of the customers reviews for those companies. I would love to hear if anyone tried HostLayer as well. At the moment, i am more to: HostGator 60% HostNine 30% HostLayer 10% Thanks again.

well hostgator has been reliable so far but have been hearing some complains on their support

Resellerzoom.com do that. I'm on a budget reseller with them and find it very good! Support is reasonably fast so I would recommend them. I have used hostgator in the past and have been very impressed with them also!

Thats 1 more to recommend HostGator To be honest, I am adding InnoHosting to my list as they provide High Quality hosting and Support for the reseller and the end-client which is something nice. So its: HostGator, InnoHosting, HostNine Thank you everyone for your input so far , really appreciate it!

HostGator are good but, I seriously dislike the tone of a hosting company that aims to monopolise the market I've had experince of InnoHosting they are good and treat you as a real individual plus they are a very active WHT member H9 are very good and I say that not from experience of them but, from customer posts here and they are an active member of WHT

In this case, you would be better to find out a host has servers in West coast, or utilize NTT connections, cause NTT is very good in Asia. It's from my real experience when we open service in the new datacenter in Washington.

Thank you for the Information . Do you know any Host that utilizes NTT connections so that I could try Pinging one of thier servers to check the delay?

I Contacted InnoHosting yesterday, and they answered alot of my questions. I think InnoHosting is great! and the end-user-support is somewhat helpfull, they also provide Pre-sales support and managing sales.
