SiteGround anyone?

Posted by balance11, 04-25-2010, 06:58 PM
Hi, Our company is considering moving a bunch of client sites we currently host in-house to an outside hosting company, hoping so save some money. One of the managers has chosen SiteGround based on some random recommendation. We did some research online which showed both bad and good reviews. WHT search revealed very little useful info. The thing we were able to determine is that it is owned/run by Bulgarians from Bulgaria, although it seems to be registered as a company in Panama. So I was wondering whether I can hear of other people's experience with SiteGround befere we make the final decision? Thank you.

If you are looking for a reseller hosting with a good track record, InnoHosting and possibly SharkSpace would be your best bet.

Hello, Welcome to WHT. Are you looking for a Panama based hosting company? I have done so quick searching and only found a few posts that are likely the same ones you have seen. Id recommend making a list of features you need then have a shop around to see who can provide you with the best service for your requirements. This is quite off topic for what the OP was asking for.

Hi, No, we were looking for a reseller hosting preferably based in US or Canada. According to their website SiteGround has servers in datacenters in Huston, Dallas and Chicago and according to the TOS all disputes should be solved in Washington D.C. So it was kinda surprising to discover the Panama registration and the fact that it looks like all the staff is based in Bulgaria. And this is why I decided to ask WHT additional info. Thanks

I have heard of SiteGround, but never heard of positive or negative feedback. It does seem odd that it was registered in Panama, but not owned in Panama. If the owner was from Bulgaria, then why would you repot to Washington DC? Just something to watch for.

What specifically about siteground interests you? If you let us know what your budget and requirements are, perhaps we can recommend a few other options for you to choose from

I am using siteground since almost a year. I was quite a noob. Just wanted to start a forum site and siteground topped on google search results. It's a bit costly compared to other services but the customer support and features are good. They usually answer a help ticket within 20 minutes.

Oh yes, their SEO results are quite impressive. How much did you pay for your account there? At the current $4/month, they're actually among the very cheap hosts.

Quite expensive actually, close to 9$ per month. Their new plans are for new customers only!
